Special event walk:
Please join us on Saturday, 3rd of August, for a breakfast and (or) a circular walk around Maldon.
The Breakfast Walk will start at 08:00 from the Plume Academy Car Park, Fambridge Road, Maldon. We shall walk approximately 3 miles and return to Maldon for breakfast at the Kitchen Café, on Washington Road.
The circular walk will start from All Saints Church, Maldon High Street at 10:15 a.m.
We shall head to Woodham Walter along the river to reach The Cats*. It is 5.5 miles easy walking with no stiles. We shall take a 5 minute break at the locks along the way (Beeleigh, Ricketts and Hoe Mill)
After lunch, we shall head back towards the Maldon High Street via the public footpaths along and across fields. It is 3.5 miles, also easy walking without any stiles.
Once we reach Maldon, we shall visit the Carpenters Arms, the Tap Room, or any other pubs for that matter before dispersing.

SAVE THE DATE! SALTMARSH COAST WALKING FESTIVAL 2024
The Maldon District Tourism Group, working with a wide range of partners which includes Maldon & Dengie Ramblers, is putting its plans in place for this year’s Saltmarsh Coast Walking Festival, which will run from Friday 27th September to Sunday 6th October 2024.
Selected as one of the “Observer” newspaper’s ten best British walking festivals for 2024, this year’s theme is “Wood and Water”. There will be over 25 guided walks around the Maldon District’s spectacular coastline, woodland and inland villages, designed to appeal to all ages and levels of ability. However, if you’d prefer to explore the area at your own pace, there’ll be plenty of self-guided walks available to download from the website.
From a hike around the renowned Tollesbury Old Hall Marshes nature reserve with an expert guide from the RSPB, to a walk along the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation with the return leg on a canal trip boat, there will be plenty of unique experiences for you to enjoy during the ten days of the Festival. There will be several walks in the programme which have been designed and led by the Maldon & Dengie Ramblers.
And the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. We are lining up a programme of evening entertainment, which will include fascinating talks from local experts on a wide range of topics and other events.
You can find out more information on the Saltmarsh Coast Walking Festival (and find details of self-guided walks in the District you can try now) by visiting
https://www.visitmaldondistrict.co.uk/walkingfestival. You can also sign up on the website to receive regular updates through an emailed newsletter, and offer to help at the Festival by volunteering as a walk leader or backmarker.
